Summer is over, and a busy and exciting autumn lies ahead, with festivals, concerts and signings. The biggest series of planned events will be a spectacular celebration of Katie's 21st anniversary at the very place where her story begins: The National Gallery in London. I will be there for four days in half term leading a wonderfully wide range of workshops for both children and adults, which will be supported by a host of other activities at the gallery.
The fun begins on Tuesday October 26th, with a workshop for 5-11 year olds called "Seas, Sunsets and Storms", inspired by the paintings of J.M.W. Turner. The workshop will be repeated on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th.
For 12-17 year olds there will be an art workshop in the afternoon of Wednesday 27th called "Drawing Out The Elements", which will also investigate Turner's paintings, but within a broader context.
I must emphasise that these are all FREE and will be loads of fun!
Finally, on Friday October 29th, I will lead a free workshop for adults in drawing for illustrative purposes, which is also a competition for budding illustrators.
The gallery will also be hosting art and drama based on Katie's adventures; and I will be signing books before and after sessions. It's going to be a busy week!
I am so excited to have this incredible opportunity to work with everyone at the National Gallery; a great honour and a wonderful experience.
